Why Unified Counselling?

When I think back to my life in Zimbabwe, if you had said to me in 20 years you will be living in Australia offering relationship counselling services to people I’d have thought – yeah right, keep dreaming!!  At that time, I had no intention of leaving my homeland, I had an interior décor business creating hand painted fabrics and I loved what I was doing!

Roll on 20 + years and absolutely everything has changed!  I no longer have that business; I live in a totally different country, and I have a totally different profession! 

Yet, in my contemplative moments, when I’m sitting enjoying a quiet coffee on my veranda I often reflect on my life journey and partly wonder how I got here but also at the same time, I sort of have an inner knowing that I was always meant to be here, walking along side people, helping and assisting them to live their best life.

For as long as I can remember I have always had a listening ear, an innate ability to hold space for people and hear their story without judgement or criticism.  I’ve been able to help people learn how to communicate better, resolve arguments and figure out the parts they can’t see that are negatively affecting their world.

Even with my business in Zimbabwe I would spend an enormous amount of time with my clients listening to them share their stories. 

Why, I’m genuinely interested, I love listening and supporting people where I can. I enjoy humanity and how it presents.  I love being part of their story, even if it is for a short time.  I feel blessed to be able to share the innate skills I’ve been gifted with others so I can help and support them.

In many ways it’s no wonder I’ve ended up here, if anything, I sometimes wonder what took me so long! It just seemed natural that the next step in my journey was to bring everything under one roof - Unified Counselling is my life journey brought to fruition!
